On the road for a couple of weeks.. sigh….or…
We will be on the road for a couple of weeks. Visit family and friends, and we should also do some fundraising and more.
We do look forward to the family and friends part, that’s great! But the other things… in all honesty.. it makes me sad. Why is fundraising and stuff like that even necessary…?
Let’s just start with a bible verse:
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
But in practice… every single missionary we know, struggles with the finances… some more, some less, but the struggle is there… every single month. The weird thing is, they do hear a lot: “wow, you’re doing such a great job”… and when they say they struggle with finances, they hear “we will pray for you” a lot… And no, this is not exaggerating…sadly.. But they can’t pay their bills with prayer or praises…
How do we deal with it? In all honesty, we don’t do any fundraising the next couple of weeks. We refuse to do it. If God wants to give, He will. We see the fundraising part as such a huge waste of time, time that we could have used for something WAY more important. So, what do we do?
“Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
Luke 8:39
So, that’s what well be doing. And if we’re running out of energy:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8, ESV
And we make choices… every single day, if the finances are there, we can help (more) people, and if they are not there… we bring it back to God. He knows, His plan.
See you all in a couple of weeks, God bless and keep up the great work for His glory!
