Does poverty exist in this region?
Schwerin, Germany. A country in Western Europe, Germany—”the engine of the European economy.” Average annual income (2024): €50,239. So, no problem, right?
Until you hear that one of our friends (German, male, 78 years old) lives in a “Plattenbau” where the heating hasn’t worked for over six months, hot water comes and goes, and he lives on the 4th floor… with no elevator. Oh, and the landlord? Haven’t heard from him in months.

So yes, poverty still exists… because our friend can’t just afford another place to live. Welcome to the “blessed West,” where help supposedly isn’t needed anymore, right?
