Weekend?
No idea what your weekends look like, but with a bit of luck, you at least get a day of rest on Sunday. Things work a little differently on this side. After a busy week, we’re currently at a church weekend where we’re taking care of some things for the church.
On Saturday, Esther led a creative workshop on the theme ‘What do promises do to a person?’
God ALWAYS keeps His promises. So if a promise you thought came from God doesn’t come true… what then?

So where did that promise come from? Or was it actually something you really wanted yourself, and somewhere along the way, you turned it into a promise? Or did you read a Bible verse, take it as a promise, but then it didn’t come true?
But did you actually read that verse in context? And was the promise in that verse even meant for you in the first place?

Because if we say that God always keeps His promises, but it doesn’t happen… then… what? God doesn’t make mistakes, so what went wrong when you ‘heard a promise’? And how do you deal with that?
Because perhaps you had really, really hoped that something would happen. Maybe you had already completely set your heart on it. But now it turns out that things aren’t going to work out that way after all. What do you do then?
It’s a challenging topic, and preparing for it took quite a bit of work. Because simply showing up and giving a workshop isn’t nearly enough. Not by a long shot!
And while Esther was busy with that, Martin was taking care of some of the technical side of the weekend.
A day of preparation, hauling everything down four floors, arranging transportation, setting everything up, running things for three days (with fantastic help from some other volunteers!), and then taking everything apart again, transporting it all back, and hauling it up four floors.
And we’re still not done at that point, because everything then needs to be sorted out again and put back into storage, ready for the next event.

The last of the equipment will be coming back later this week, and then we’ll start preparing for the next events.
Oh yes, tomorrow is our day of rest. Because a weekend the way most people know it, with both Saturday and Sunday off, is pretty rare around here.
