Lovely memories!
While looking through the photos of therapy sessions, I came across the ones below.
This piece was created by a participant who has since passed away. It’s touching to remember her through her creations. That’s why we’d like to share her experience with you as well.
We start the therapy session by reflecting on personal needs.
Next, we do a drawing exercise where, for 2 minutes, a word is translated into movement, form, strength, and the speed of drawing – resulting in an abstract outcome. Similarly, we explore a feeling related to the chosen need, along with the opposite of that feeling. These two A3 sheets are then combined into a new artwork.

She feels the need for direction. The negative feeling tied to that need is shown on the second sheet. The first sheet shows the opposite: a crossroads where different paths branch out.

When combining the two sheets, she folds the negative one over and over until only a small piece remains. From that piece, she cuts out an arrow, which she places on the road leading to the crossroads.
In this way, the negative feeling has become much more manageable for her. Instead of getting lost in a chaotic tangle of negative emotions, she’s now able to streamline them. She understands that she’s on her way to a crossroads with different options. And yes, she doesn’t know yet which option is the best, but she does know there are options.
Instead of being stuck in the chaos of her emotions, she now hovers above it like in a helicopter, gaining a better perspective.
