Everyone has their own gifts… Thank God for that..

Today we are busy working out the annual accounts, finishing a podcast, drawing up new plans and so on.

And to be honest… not everything is our “hobby”. But now comes the kicker:

E is (or used to be) a bookkeeper and manages fine with the accounting side, but hates complicated technical things. She manages with it, but “fun”? Nope. She also finds writing annual plans less fun.

M really hates everything that has to do with (as he puts it) “paper shuffling”, but then manages well with those technical matters. M likes writing plans and putting ideas down on paper.

And so we complement each other in the work we are allowed to do. Reminds me of the following bit:

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

1 Corinthians 12: 4-6

It works the same way in the other types of work / projects we do. E is more of the fire prevention branch, M is more of the “if it burns, it’s a beautiful day because then there really is something to do” branch. Both kinds of “sports” must be practiced, are necessary, but they must suit you… or actually be “given”.

And no, we don’t always like everything we have to do today, but this way, with 1 Corinthians 12 in mind, we enjoy it. Special to see that it works that way.
