Criticism
Today in therapy group we’re looking at Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
When we read that scripture, we often think about how others say things to us and remind ourselves that we say good words to another to build them up.
But what about internally?

What do you say to yourself? Do you perhaps recognize thoughts such as: ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘you can’t do that’, ‘what will others think of you’… Do you have a voice inside that criticizes you? Because the spell also applies to those words.
In the therapy group, everyone chooses a certain voice that is spoken and heard inside, and it is turned around to a positive voice, to a good word. This is depicted in a collage.
It provides beautiful moments in the debriefing. “I never really realized that I say that to myself and how much of an impact it actually has on me…”, “I’m going to try to turn those negative thoughts into something positive this week.”
Which critical voice will you choose, and what will you change it in to? The collage is a reminder of the decision that was made today.
What does yours look like?
