Our house is not a normal house. We invite everyone for everything over, and we also lend it to students to celebrate their birthday, for example.
As an expat student, you are far, far, far from home. In this case, the birthday girl was 6,253 kilometers from home. Your family can’t “just” drop by and inviting your friends from (for example) school is difficult because your student room is often shared, and you just have room for two beds.
So if they want to celebrate their birthday, they can do so at our place. They literally get the keys to the house, we “move” to the therapy room, and the rest of the house is then theirs for a while. TV on, games on the table, bags of chips, popcorn in the microwave, celebrating your birthday and still some sort at home, far, far away from home. Congratulations!
And yes, Poland is a “shoes off” country, so this was the view from the front door. 🙂 And how a party sounds in our place? Like this:
