A few times a week we have complicated conversations that often involve tears. Sometimes people say: “sorry, I’m crying”. But is that necessary to apologize about it? Get this, this is Paul:

So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

Acts 20:31

This is Peter:

Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

Mark 14:72

And this is what is written about Jesus, when Lazarus had died and Jesus saw his body:

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept.

John 11:33-35

The Bible mentions that Jesus cried, which also indicates that God lets us know that He understands our feelings. He created us with the ability to cry. So yes, there are times to cry. Absolutely. And in those times, there is also comfort. This is such an example:

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

So no, there is no need to apologize when you cry, on the contrary. It is certainly allowed to be sad about what is happening on this earth. But when you walk with God, that sadness gets a different perspective. A perspective with comfort in very difficult times and a look to the future.
