Today’s theme in therapy is: Holiday of adulthood!

We’re going to play. The situation in Ukraine is getting worse and worse, increasing the stress level of refugees. Today we’re taking a break from everything and going to play. Playing with paint!
And make no mistake – it’s harder than you think! As adults, we all have rules in our heads, thoughts about how we should or shouldn’t do something…

She starts to paint with her fingers, very consciously, drawing.
At one point, she looks at me…
“I would like to run my hands over it…”
“Why not?” I answer.
“I think that’s a shame…”
“Shall we take a picture of what it looks like now?”
Yes, that’s a good idea, so we’ll do that.

She then goes over it completely with her hands and enjoys the movement and feeling of the paint on her hands and between her fingers. She looks in my direction happily and proudly.

And afterwards – the result is beautiful as well! While that wasn’t about that at all 🙂
