Gdańsk 2000
In the summer of 2000 I (E) went on summer action with Operation Mobilization. Love Europe, as it is called. Reaching out for a few weeks with an international team to a local church in another country and helping that church with evangelism activities.
The preparatory conference that year was in Gdańsk, Poland, and on the free afternoon we went into the city, where I took a photo of this statue with my camera and a roll of film.
Now 23 years later, (!) I am standing there again! This time just with my husband and a smartphone. Again as a missionary, but now long term and living in Poland!
It’s special to see how life can turn out. Back then, I never thought that I would one day live in Poland. The desire to be a missionary was already there, but due to different experiences and circumstances, I did not expect that to happen again. And now we stand here together in front of the same statue as back as 23 years ago.
A life with Christ is never, never (!) boring! Wonderful how He has everything in His hand and guides us through our lives. That is, if you allow Him to.
I wonder where we will end up and what we can do for Him. In dependence on Christ and willingness to go and do what He asks of you, your life may take a very special turn that you could never have imagined!
