A postcard from Guido to Ukraine.

Last week, via Anika, we received a box full of Postcards from the Reformed School Community “Guido” (Amersfoort, Netherlands). And those are special cards. Very special ones.

The students have written postcards for the Ukrainians who are here, in Poland, as refugees. One by one, postcard by postcard. Very personal, with a greeting, a text, everyone unique.

And we can distribute them to the Ukrainians we meet in our work. What does one such card do? Let’s give you one example…

At the very first Postcard that we gave to somebody, we immediately had someone in tears. Card 1! During the therapy group she was completely stuck, no emotions, nothing. Locked up. You see her struggle with everything that had happened (and still happens) and she just couldn’t give it a place. Nothing happened until the end of the session. Until the session was over, and we were able to give her the very first postcard.

And she broke completely… something came loose, finally. There was something written on it that touched her. And finally, there was a place to let the emotions go. Postcard number one.

Can you imagine? This was only postcard one…. What a blessing the rest may be to the people who are here. Very special to see that happening, through all the misery, one postcard came for her… and there was space to take one step towards recovery.

What a blessing those cards from “Guido” are, we (on behalf of all readers) are thrilled with them. One postcard… small effort, huge blessings.
