It’s out of your hands?
When your life is turned upside down, you find yourself out of control.
“The end of the war? I have no influence whatsoever on that… If only it were so!” is a frequently heard theme in the therapy group.
But is it true that you have nothing in your hand?
Time to think about that in a very concrete assignment using both hands:
What do you have in hand? And what is not in your control?
The clients are starting to realize that they still have quite a lot in their own hands! “I can choose what I do and therefore I am in control of my own choices.” “I have control over how I react to someone else.” “I can control which steps I take in education or work…” You often have no control over the outcome, but in many things you have a choice in what you do and how you behave.
