An Empty House… and a Full Heart
Over the past month, our home has been anything but quiet. We’ve had a steady stream of guests coming and going — and we’ve loved every bit of it. Every conversation, every shared moment, every ordinary and extraordinary day… all of it felt like a gift.
And then suddenly, the house falls silent.
Today was one of those “goodbye days.” The kind where you wave off someone you’ve been looking forward to seeing for months. A hug, a heartfelt “see you soon,” the sound of a car door closing — and they’re gone.

But “see you soon”… who really knows if that’s true in this wide world of ours? And even if it is, it might be a very long while before we meet again. Some goodbyes, were final.
And that leaves a kind of emptiness behind. The quiet, the leftover coffee cups, the echo of laughter — they all remind us of what’s now missing. It’s part of life overseas, part of the calling we’ve embraced. But that doesn’t make it any easier.
Each goodbye tugs at something deep inside. It’s bittersweet. It’s beautiful. And yes — it’s complicated.
