Latest news from Emmy.

Dear all,

Well, we’ve just returned from what the Germans call a “Dienstreise”, or a business trip. (In other words, anything but a holiday.) And tomorrow we’re heading off again for our next trip. I have to admit, it’s pretty intense...

During our last trip, among other things, we visited people we work with, had the opportunity to give a workshop on the theme of “connection”, and prepared a new retreat for female missionaries. There was only one weekend between the two trips, and we were working that weekend too, so we’re definitely not heading off well-rested. Welcome to our “normal” life.

So what do you do it all for, you might ask? Well, if you know our work even a little, you know that sometimes it involves cleaning up the mess left behind by damage that has been done, and part of it is pastoral care. We noticed some remarkable differences in that area this time. And let’s be honest, some of those sessions can be pretty intense. There are also some things that genuinely concern us.

But then, when you see the results of sometimes very simple actions, we can’t help but be incredibly grateful that we get to do this. And that is putting it mildly. That’s when you know why you do it and who you do it for. So today, tired but deeply satisfied, we’re packing our bags again for the next trip.

For now, greetings from Schwerin. Tomorrow we’re heading towards Stuttgart.
