Practical help…

Although our primary objective is art therapy, counseling and coaching, we have other “side” objectives… including… “Helping and encouraging people in any way on their life journey.”

Because, let’s be honest… therapy is sometimes desperately needed, but if the practical environment of our target groups is not stable, this has a direct impact on therapy. If someone is literally hungry, therapy isn’t going to work at that point. So, sometimes you first have to do some practical help to create daily peace and after that take the next step towards healing. As we sometimes say: first the fire must be extinguished, then we will work on prevention and look for the cause of the fire. As long as the building is still on fire, it MUST be extinguished first.

What does that look like practically? Let’s take an example:

Mother, fled from Ukraine, taking children and belongings with her. The belongings had to fit in a few shopping bags, the rest is left behind.

She took two children to Poznan, income is minimal, meanwhile busy with studies for her future, and then the computer breaks down… And there is absolutely no money for a new one.

And then you have a huge problem. Nowadays, you need a computer for your studies and the studies of your children. Regardless of whether you want it or not, it is a tool that you can no longer do without.. And now what to do?

When we found out that this problem existed, we contacted people within our circle of friends, and KroKo MultiPunt provided us with a number of older, but still functioning laptops. For this purpose: great! Completely installed, ready to be deployed.

And we’re not there yet… because Kroko had given even more computers. To be honest… we didn’t immediately have a goal for that when we arrived in Poland… until one day later… then we heard from another family about exactly the same problem and they did not know how to solve it either. So, within two days,… all the computers were gone.

Very practical, everyone was one link in this puzzle, and this practical puzzle was solved in no time. This gives space within these families to continue with the more complicated issues… how do I process what has happened in recent months/years and how can I move on mentally and spiritually.

Other examples of this type of help? The homeless project, one bed for one night, we have a loan bicycle, sometimes we arrange a microwave for baby food, give micro loans, and much more. It often does not involve large amounts, and it usually does not take much time, but it is very necessary to take the next step.
