Workshops

In addition to therapy groups, we have also started to offer workshops. Two hours to try out a new technique. And if it’s fun, it may become a new hobby, a new way to relax by creating.

But for a workshop, examples are needed. This means that I also get to tinker with different techniques myself!

Our first workshop is about embroidery on photos. When you search around the internet, there are so many possibilities, so many examples. But how do you start? A workshop is ideal for that. You are taken step by step, challenged to try something different and create step by step.
Step 1: In this workshop, we start by choosing an image from a magazine. That could really be any image you see. Even a text column can be used!
Step 2: Tape the image to a piece of cardboard so that it is sturdy enough to embroider through. And here the first color choice comes to the fore. You can choose a color of cardboard that matches the image, or that is different. That which suits you.
Step 3: Now you look at what you are going to embroider. There are all kinds of pattern books on the table for ideas. You can start from the shapes and lines in the photo or choose something entirely different, such as embroidering square shapes over circles. You can embroider through the photo or embroider a frame. And which colors are you going to use? Contrasting colors or do you use the same color spectrum of the photo?
Step 4: When the embroidery is finished, look for a frame around your project. To do this, look at the colors used in the photo and in the embroidery. By choosing colors that already exist, you can accentuate them. You can use one or two different colors in the frame. The best way is to place your work on the colored paper and see what happens and what you like.

And then tadaa! Your project is ready!
Ready to be framed, placed in the room or sent to a friend.
