The Formoza Challenge

Today we volunteered for Bread of Life at the Formoza Challenge in Oborniki where also people from the Poznan International Church did work as a volunteer. (Oborniki is about an hour travel from Poznan)

Now we all know “run a mile for a good cause”, but this is the extreme form of it…. And by extreme, we mean very extreme…

The most extreme form is 10 kilometres… uhh… we can’t even call it walking…or even running… it’s worse…

Up and down the hills with 15+ kilos on your neck with a plastic gun and a heavy steel barrel, you name it, and it couldn’t be crazier… As a volunteer, we were able to keep an eye on whether there was anyone that broke (both) legs / or if there was nothing wrong to encourage people… only 6 kilometres to crawl through the mud! You are almost there… but not quite yet… VERY impressive to see, to say the least.

Where a wet suit does not normally make you happy, here (after ploughing through a swamp…) they became enthusiastic about a splash…

Remarkable…. the teamwork! Nobody let anyone down. Never, ever. Yes, it was a competition, but not once did we see anyone not being helped. Wow, just wow.

All in all, we had a great day, luckily we didn’t see any serious accidents, and we enjoyed it together with the other volunteers.

That running and ploughing through the mud, also reminded me of the following text:

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:12

And the race isn’t always easy. Sometimes it really is a struggle… but with His help… you will get there. Teamwork at its best!

For the enthusiasts, a short video clip. Just to watch it all, we found it strenuous enough, I must say. Oh yes, we are now as red as a lobster…. something with a lot of sunshine… 🙂 Does that also count as a sports injury?

For the enthusiasts who want to participate next time, see: We will cheer you on, ok?
