Retrospective on a Benefit Festival for Childhood Cancer Support

At the end of the month, we had the opportunity to help out at a charity concert, with all proceeds going to Kinderkrebshilfe Westmecklenburg (KRAKI e.V.). Since 1990, this organization has been supporting children with cancer and their families.

Each evening, a lineup of bands took turns on stage, with a new band performing every hour. In total, that meant two nights of concerts, and when you add all the preparation work, it came down to six days of work altogether.

Each band had exactly one hour, including setup and teardown. That meant the stage had to be cleared and rebuilt almost constantly throughout the event. Luckily, most of the bands were very well organized, which helped everything run surprisingly smoothly.

All in all, it was a successful project with a great cause to support. Today we’re taking it easy: just lying on the couch and recovering for the day.

What really made this period special is that we could never have done it alone. Behind the scenes, so many people helped out voluntarily, often without the audience even noticing. From setup to teardown, from preparation to execution: there were always hands pitching in and thinking along.

So we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed in one way or another on a voluntary basis, for their effort, flexibility, and involvement. Your time and energy made all of this possible — and we truly appreciate it.
