Politics

The election battle has now started again, and we sometimes notice this in our work. Especially during this time, there is a storm! NL is going to vote, PL and the USA are also coming up again, CZ has just finished… so yes, we notice that… and so we get questions like this quite a lot:

What do you think of X, Y, Z, A, B, C? Because I have to choose a political party later, but I find topic D complicated. What do you think about that?

Well, to be honest… we consciously(!) don’t say anything about that. As soon as you start interfering with those kinds of statements in our line of work, things are bound to go wrong. Because in all honesty… politics is a complicated “game” which also differs enormously depending on which culture / country you are in / from… Politics in NL has different interests than the politics in PL and that of the US of A is again entirely different. What they say and mean is a different language than the one we speak, since we are not from their countries. So we avoid that topic, and not just a little bit.

We are trying to make the world a slightly more beautiful place, in the middle of a world where there is a war on our eastern border…. Where the citizens are the victims of.. Politics. So yes, we avoid those types of topics as much as we can.

What do we do when we get these kinds of questions? This:

You know what, I don’t understand politics… I don’t have enough knowledge to understand that game, I’m not that smart. Would you mind if we take a look at what God says in His word on that subject? Because God has also given clarity on subjects X, Y, Z and He has also given that clarity to you and me. Not to bully us, but to protect us.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

And if they don’t want that and still want to go all out on politics… that’s it for us. On to the next one..
