Language-tired. We’ll say nothing to each other for a while.

Exhausted from language. Is that possible? Absolutely. Try reading this:

Afgelopen zondag waren we naar een Poolse kerk, z nabożeństwem po polsku and (especially for us) translated into English, после чего мы пошли в гости к друзьям из Белоруссии.

Do you understand what it says? We do, and if that goes on for six hours straight, we’re exhausted from the language, the translating, the interpreting—(because the cultural differences add even more).

And when we get home, we sit very quietly on the couch and agree to not say anything to each other for an hour.

Last Sunday, we went to a Polish church, with a service in Polish and (especially for us) translated into English, after which we visited friends from Belarus.
