Greetings from Cambodia!
Yesterday we visited Aline in Cambodia / Veenendaal! She works in Cambodia with children in the slums of Phnom Penh, among other target groups. And since she is in NL is for leave, and we are also in NL presently… time for a cup of Cambodian tea.

Now I would like to go to Cambodia myself for a holiday, but to live there… as a Dutchman… in a slum (Yep, she also lived in those districts) that’s a different story….
And she feels right at home in Cambodia! She talks about her work with passion and enthusiasm, all those photos we see have their own story. And then you know that behind every photo are 50 other photos that have not been chosen in the presentation. And all those photos have a story of their own. So inspiring!
How does a white Dutchman manage to become part of the Cambodian culture, to be known by the sellers in the market, the people sitting on the waterfront, neighbours around her and the many children she meets. And she knows them too! What a miracle that is! Then you must(!) be there, right?
These are those jobs that you can only do if you KNOW that you MUST go there with and for God. Slum doesn’t sound good already, the food we saw in the pictures doesn’t really attract us either (although M became very curious how dog tastes….yep…), safe is a different word, and then staying there during the corona time… and not leaving. And she feels like a fish in the water… Humanly speaking… unexplainable.
Is it always easy? It certainly is not. But if you have seen the enthusiasm when she tells about what she does (including language lessons, Bible lessons and much, much more)… hearing the stories about how people are really touched… then it can only make you very quiet.
Thank you Aline for taking us into your special world and showing you how you work with and for God in that beautiful country.
