Depressed winner
Some time ago, I spoke with X. Things weren’t going well for her, and she indicated that she had been depressed… for quite a while. She hadn’t been leaving her house, spent days lying in bed, and she had absolutely no desire to be around people. She felt (literally) worthless and wondered, what was it all for?
The remarkable thing is that at that moment, X was a winner in my eyes.
She chose, even though she had no desire for people, to reach out and contact us. She hadn’t even realized she had done it, it didn’t even stand out.
She told me I was the first person she had spoken to in months, let alone anyone she had talked to about her struggles.
Wow, that’s quite a step. And what a good step. To dare to seek help from that dark cloud, on your own, from someone you didn’t even know, wow, that’s a huge step.

When I told her this, she suddenly realized a few things.
- “I took an important step today.”
- “I can do something.”
- “I’m not alone, I thought I was, but there’s someone who listens to me.”
- “I’m not a loser.”
- “I thought God had let me go too, but that’s not true either.”
That’s right, X, today you are not a loser, you are a winner. Bam.
A beautiful moment, a beautiful conversation, and we enjoyed it together. Step by step out of a dark cloud, one you thought would never go away. And today, without even realizing it, you took a step outside that cloud. And yes, the problems are not suddenly gone, but today you made a huge step toward the future.
X, winner of the day, it was a blessing to see you, and you made my day brighter. Until next time.
