Certainty

This week we use ink and a quill to draw, focusing on a theme, according to the technique of horror vacui = fear of emptiness. The entire sheet is therefore filled with shapes and lines.

She chooses the theme ‘certainty’. She says that she is often insecure, but that she wants to be more sure of herself. That is why she has drawn large areas in which there is certainty, like drops. The space around it is filled with small circles and lines.

She is not ready yet, needs more time to fill the page. She takes the quill and a jar of ink with her to finish it at home.

She says that her confidence grows while drawing. The beginning was difficult because the goose feather is new, and it is unclear how that feather reacts to its movement. But gradually she notices how she can best work with the feather, what works, what doesn’t… And so her confidence in this drawing grows, she dares to make bigger movements and takes control.

What a beautiful process!
She feels her uncertainty change into certainty and experiences what that does to her!
And that is something she takes with her into everyday life.
