Back on the road, but what a story!

Suddenly, we lost engine power, scary lights on the dashboard came on, a thing started beeping, and then what….bus full of stuff….

After a short night, (before the road service was there, it was somewhere around midnight as far as I can remember..) early this morning to the workshop in beautiful Vledder.

Do you know that sometimes you come across people who do everything they can to help you? Well, that’s an understatement, with what we saw today.

Due to the holiday season, every car workshop is already very busy, so “do you have a moment” is an exciting question. But if the bus doesn’t drive, we don’t drive either, neither do the relief goods, and we can’t pick up the rest of the goods that also have to go to the east. (apart from what you have to do in terms of sleep, schedules, etc, everything goes off the rails when this happens… sigh..)

But then this time…. There was time, a good (!) mechanic with experience and creativity, and a temporary solution that allows us to drive again without too many risks. And that had everything to do with… humanity. See what is possible, see why it is needed, take a step extra, and together we make the world a bit more beautiful. And you know what? It’s great that the bus is running again, but that there are more people who, despite all the hustle and bustle, have worked together to find a practical solution to help other people… that’s the best thing. Oh yeah, and the bill? 0.0 Euro… for charity… wow.

Now first a few hours of sleep and then make plans how to proceed because the schedule has suffered a bit and we still have to arrange some parts for the van that have to be ready in Poland when we arrive back “home”. Anyway, details, details, we are driving again, it was a day to remember.
