A trip to the desert
In a world full of noise with everything vying for your attention – work, social media, etc. – it’s easy to become distracted, anxious, and lose sight of what’s truly important in life.
Sometimes you simply need to take a step back and collect your breath… Also, go to the desert!
Our brother, J from Zimbabwe, did just that in Petra, Jordan, last week and it was an amazing experience. He found so much peace in the silence, away from any distractions. Just himself and God going on walks, sightseeing, talking, reflecting, and being able to understand the type of desert environment that biblical stories would have most likely taken place in.
The desert can be nourishing, as Jesus experienced during his 40-day fast (Luke 4:1-14) or Moses experienced after fleeing Egypt (Acts 7). In the solitude, we can hear God’s gentle, soothing voice.
Whether it’s your backyard, a walk in the park, or a solo journey to Jordan, be inspired to go to the desert and turn off all other noise so that you can hear God speak.
